Questions people ask before pasting a token.
Short answers. If yours is not here, sign up and use the feedback link on your board.
Do I need my school's permission?+
No. A Canvas personal access token is created from your own account settings and only reads what you can already see. Nothing is written back to Canvas.
Where do I get the token?+
In Canvas: Account, then Settings, then Approved Integrations, then New Access Token. Paste it into Coursemap on the Connect page. You can revoke it from the same place any time.
Is my data private?+
Your token is encrypted at rest and only your account can read your rows. We do not read or store grades from Canvas, and we do not sell or share anything.
My school uses D2L, Blackboard, or Moodle. Can I use it?+
Not yet for sync. Those platforms need an admin-issued API key. You can still upload syllabi and use the plan, notes, quizzes, and tasks by hand. More platforms are on the list as schools allow.
What if a syllabus date is wrong or changes?+
Edit the task on the board. Manual edits are kept on the next sync, and instructor changes in Canvas come through automatically.
Do the quizzes replace my instructor's quizzes?+
No. They check that you read and understood the chapter. Use them before class, not instead of it.
Does it work on my phone?+
Yes, it is a website that fits any screen. Checkboxes and quiz scores sync to your account, so your laptop and phone always agree.
Free while we are in early access. Works with any school on Canvas.
